Speed Fighter
A simple racing / educational game that I made for the CrazyGames x Defold 48 hour jam in June 2025. The theme was Speed, so I immediately thought to make a Road Fighter clone - my wife suggested adding the math to also make it a little bit educational.
This version is already a post-jam version that fixes the math problem feature that was only halfway prototyped in the jam. The difficulty of the math problems is probably still a bit too random and you can sometimes get yourself into unsolvable sums.
There were fairly many feedbacks that I would need to consider working on to turn this into a full-fledged game, so it's unlikely I'll work on this further, but if you like the idea, please provide encouragement in the comments for me to consider spending more effort on this project. The list was:
- Low replayability
- All levels look the same and do not add new challenges or visuals
- Math mechanics don't fit well
- Reward of just an additional boost for completing the math challenge is anti-climatic (effort > reward)
- Need better feedback that you get a booster when finishing a math puzzle
- Art style is not cohesive (mix of pixel and vector styles)
- Voice in the soundtrack is distracting
- Known bugs:
- On web the leftmost background gets deleted prematurely causing black flashes
- Math problem sometimes gets you into an unsolvable problem and also fails to give clear feedback when you fail the problem (it just starts over)
